Parks

Park Rules, information and hours of operation are posted on signage at all municipal parks. All parks in the Town of Arnprior have the following rules:

  • General Hours of Operation for all parks are from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm unless otherwise posted; some park amenities are available under different hours
  • No alcohol, smoking or vaping
  • No camping
  • Pets must be kept on their leash
  • Pets are not permitted on municipal beaches or designated swim areas
  • No open air burning or charcoal BBQs
  • Where BBQs are permitted, only CSA approve propane BBQs are allowed
  • No littering or dumping
  • No feeding the birds
  • No motor vehicle access inside park space (other than parking lots)

Location: 400 John Street


Amenities:

  • Over 275 feet of beach front
  • Play Structure
  • Splash Pad - Open daily 8:00 am to 9:00 pm until Thanksgiving Weekend
  • Beach - Guarded daily 11:00 am to 6:00 pm until September 1, 2025
    • AccessMat (Accessible Beach Mat)
    • WaterWheels (Accessible Water and Beach Chair – see lifeguards for use)
  • JAYDOG Canteen - Open daily 11:00 am - 6:00 pm
  • Open Play Area
  • Washroom Facilities - Open daily 8:00 am to 9:00 pm
  • Gazebo - Rental Required - No rentals available in 2026*
  • Picnic Tables (First Come, First Served)

Parking Information:

  • Parking on the main level offers 65 spaces, including 5 accessible parking stalls.
  • Beach level parking offers 8 spaces – 3 accessible spots and 5 standard parking space. All other areas of the waterfront, including the hill are Tow Away Zones.
  • Overflow parking on weekends is available at no cost in the rear parking lot of the Arnprior Hospital until Sunday September 14, 2025. Please follow signage for proper parking area. Please note that the front parking lot of the hospital is paid parking.
  • On-Street Parking available in designate areas on John Street North, Ewen Street, Albert Street, Lake Street and Church Street, among others.
  • A Park Attendant will be on-site Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays from 11:00am-6:00pm to support safe park environment. The Park Attendant will support the enforcement of Town by-laws and parking.

*The Robert Simpson Park Revitalization project will commence in 2026 with work beginning on the upper level of that park.

As a result, all upper-level park amenities – including the Lions Club Pavillion (gazebo), washrooms, canteen, play structure, and splash pad – will be unavailable for rental or public use throughout 2026.

The beach area will remain open for the summer 2026 season, providing continued access to the waterfront. For those looking to book weddings or events, we have several other park spaces available. For more information email us at recreation@arnprior.ca.

Location: 100 Edey Street (Access from Edey Street or Wilfred Crescent)


Amenities:

  • Sullivan Rink of Dreams. This lighted outdoor recreation surface offers the Town's largest outdoor rink (winter season) and two basketball courts and other recreation programming the other months of the year such as basketball, ball hockey and pickleball.
  • Shack for changing in the winter or relief from the heat in the summer. Open 8:00 am – 9:30 pm Daily.
  • Lights on the Rink Area are operational until 9:30pm daily
  • Large Play Structure with accessible features and rubberized play surface
  • Swings (4 swings including one universal swing, 2 belt, 1 toddler)
  • Porta Potty on-site
  • Home to the Veterans Memorial Garden
  • Outdoor Rink – See below for Status

Location: 77 James Street

Amenities:

  • Skate Park featuring a half pipe, hubba, fun box, rails and more. Open for the season through to the end of October. The park is open from 8:00 am - 10:00 pm daily.
  • Play Structure

  • 3 lighted Ball Diamonds – 2 fastball and 1 baseball
  • 3 Disc Golf Nets
  • Play Structure
  • Swings (4 swings including one universal swing, 2 belt, 1 toddler)
  • Gazebo
  • Washroom Facilities - Open daily 8:00 am to 9:00 pm
  • Over 250 feet of waterfront (unguarded)
  • Sand Beach
  • Waterfront for swimming, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding and canoeing (unguarded)
  • Large Picnic Area with Picnic Benches

Location: 45 Atkinson Street (Both sides of the street)


Amenities:

  • Lighted Basketball Court. Lights are operational until 9:30pm daily.
  • Play Structure
Swings (1 Belt, 1 Toddler)

Location: 55 Leo Lavoie Lane (at the end of Riverview Drive and McLean Avenue)

Amenities:

  • East point of the confluence of the Madawaska and Ottawa Rivers
  • Wooded area (Please be careful of Poison Ivy)
  • Home of the Chats Lake Boat Club
  • No Swimming

Location: 33 John Street North between John Street and Daniel Street

Amenities:

  • Walking trail extending from John Street to Carss Street
  • Bench Seating along walking trail between John Street and Daniel Street

Location: On both the East and West sides of the Madawaska River / Madawaska Boulevard

Outdoor Skating Rinks

  • Open Daily, 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (weather permitting).
  • It is highly recommended that all skaters wear a CSA approved helmet while on the ice.
  • Stay off the rink during inclement weather or when staff are clearing snow or watering the ice surface.
  • Parents or guardians must directly supervise their children (12 and under) at all times.
  • Only E-Z gliders are permitted as an aid.
  • Wheelchairs and strollers on ice:
    • Are permitted on the ice, with the accompaniment of a responsible person 16 years of age or older, who is wearing skates.
    • CSA approved helmets are required for wheelchair and stroller occupants.
    • Sand and salt must be removed from wheels prior to entering the ice surface to ensure the safety of skaters.
  • Follow any Town of Arnprior signage relating to use of the outdoor rink including any programming schedules.
  • Outdoor rinks are not supervised; use at your own risk.
  • Help keep the rinks maintained for other users by scrapping and clearing the ice at the end of your use.

  • Current Status: Closed
  • Lighting: The Sullivan Rink of Dreams is fully lit with lighting available between 4:30-9:30 p.m. Press the green button located between the benches to turn the lights on. Lights remain on for a 1-hour period.

Location: 33 McGregor Scobie Crescent / 130 Desmond Trudeau Drive

  • Current Status: Closed
  • Lighting: Streetlight over the rink which is always on when dark.
