Fences

Permits are not required for fences to be built, but there are still some regulations that must be followed:

• If the fence is enclosing a pool, it does require a permit
• Maximum 1.9 m (6 ft) high on lot lines along a street
• The fence can be higher in the rear yard and interior side yard's
• The fence shall be on your property and structurally sound. It is recommend you build the fence on your side of the property line, not the line itself, unless you have an agreement with your neighbour
• Your fence shall not restrict access when an access easement is provided for neighbouring properties (Refer to your survey)
• You must call for locates before digging (Ontario One Call - 1-800-400-2255)
